Eye-popping thrills are not all that hard to come by in New York City. Crowds are par for the course; parades roll down the street throughout the year; Broadway shows draw thousands of spectators every day; the late-night cocktail and music scene thrive; and those light in Times Square never flicker. But if thats not enough if you want more adrenaline-pumping action the next time you take a bit out of the Big Apple then consider these thrilling options.

Get High

Many of the oohs and aahs generated by a visit to New York City come from looking up up at the Empire State Building, up at the detail outside Grand Central Station, up at the majestic new 9/11 Memorial. "The important to budget travel is to prepare ahead. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new destinations we have never been before, the fact of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our thoughts. Planning and expending our travel budget correctly is a main concern for most families. Minimizing consuming and expenses, while still experiencing your vacation to its fullest, is the key to certain achievement and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought behind saving money while travelling is simple: Even if your personal budget is really limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, regardless of whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a large vacation or travel costs!..". But the view from above can be thrilling, too, so consider a helicopter ride for an incomparable birds-eye view of the worlds most famous skyline. Pegasus Flight, one of the best-reviewed helicopter tour companies in the city, offers day and nighttime aerial tours that feature panoramic views of iconic New York City landmarks, like the Empire State Building, Freedom Tower, Statue of Liberty and Madison Square Garden. Flights take off from Linden Municipal Airport, a 30-minute drive from lower Manhattan, and end with a refreshing champagne toast. These excursions can be intimate, since the helicopters they use seat only three. Pick a 30- or 60-minute tour. And these guys offer proposal flight packages, too (complete with a dozen red roses).

Zippidy Doo Da

Zip lining in Manhattan? Not yet, at least. But if youre in Manhattan and can spare a few hours, Big Bear Ziplines offers the closes high-flying thrills around. Itll mean taking the Metro-North out of Grand Central to the Poughkeepsie station a pretty ride thatll last a bit over 90 minutes where one of their vans will pick you up for free and whisk you away to Hyde Park. With more than 4000 feet of zip lines and 12 custom-built flight decks, youll reach heights of up to 80 feet and speeds of up to 30mph. And be sure to keep your eyes open: there are more than 50 acres of beautiful Hudson Valley woodland to enjoy.

Thar She Blows

What you see can offer just as many thrills as what you do; anyone whos gone on a whale watching cruise will tell you that. It turns out that dolphins and whales like making their way through the waters off Rockaway, Queens, located about 30 minutes outside Manhattan. American Princess Cruises has been taking out would-be watchers for years, and a bevy of animals -- humpback whales, finback whales, pilot whales, minke whales, dolphins and marine birds make regular appearances. Cruises, which leave from Riis Landing, last about four hours. This is a summer activity -- the season usually runs mid-June through late August and a family-friendly one, since the naturalist guides usually ask the kids to help keep count of the animals they spot, and children 4 and under ride for free.
