Spring is here, and Easter Sunday will be upon us. There will be many events from Easter egg hunts to Easter egg rolls. Many will be getting their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. How would you like to see the Easter Bunny while riding on a train? There are a few places within a days drive where you can take a ride.
The Walkersville Southern Railroad in Walkersville, Maryland will be having an Easter train on Saturday, March 30, 2013. You will enjoy a 70 minute ride through the farmland and the Monocacy River Valley while the Easter visits each child for a photo op. He will also be giving each child a special keepsake to remember the trip. It is only a 45 minute drive from the Capital Beltway. Departures are at 11:00am, 1:00pm, and at 3:00pm. You can get ticket prices and directions at www.wsrr.org.
The Middletown and Hummlestown Railroad in Middletown, Pennsylvania will be running Easter trains on Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30, 2013. You will enjoy a 90 minute ride and the train rolls beside Swatara Creek. The Easter Bunny will be passing by with treats for the children. Departures are at 11:00am and 1:30pm. You must allow three hours of driving time from the Capital Beltway. Ticket information and directions are available at www.mhrailroad.com.
The Historic Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg, Pennsylvania will be running Easter trains on Friday, March 29, Saturday, March 30, and Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. You will enjoy a 45 minute ride through the Pennsylvania Dutch countryside with Peter Cottontail as your conductor greeting everyone with surprises. You must allow three hours of driving time from the Capital Beltway. "The essential to budget travel is to prepare in front. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the actuality of cost and budgeting is generally in the back of our mind. Arranging and spending our travel budget carefully is a consideration for most families. Minimizing expending and prices, while still experiencing your vacation to its fullest, is the key to certain achievements and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning regarding saving money while travelling is simple: Even if your personal funds is highly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, regardless of whether on a finances or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel bill!..". Ticket information and directions are available at www.strasburgrailroad.com.
On behalf of everyone who writes for the Examiner, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Good Friday and a Happy Easter, and happy railroading.
