In recent years the term staycation has become more popular. To many, the idea of staying at home or in your hometown for a vacation sounds insane. But if done right it can be just as relaxing as a vacation.
For starters a staycation requires less planning, less stress, and less expense. In order to be successful however it is important to treat it as a vacation, just because you stay at home does not mean you shouldn't go do things like you were a tourist. Even though you are in your own house or town you MUST treat it as a vacation in order for it to serve its purpose; turn off your phones, turn off your computer, put a hold on your mail so you feel like you are getting away from it all.
So in order to decide which is appropriate for you there is a couple of questions you must ask yourself.....and make sure you answer honestly.
1.) Am I looking for an inexpensive vacation?
2.) Can I alienate myself from phones, computer, mail?
3.) Can I plan a staycation that will be relaxing?
If you answered yes to these questions a staycation is perfect for you. However for some a vacation is absolutely necessary, and there is nothing wrong with that. A vacation requires more planning, and more expense than a staycation. In order to plan a successful and relaxing vacation it is important to plan early for the best deals, and to minimize the stress of last minute planning. Another important factor is making a list of the places you want to see and do. This helps to create a more organizes, stress free, and cost effective vacation.
So in short staycation or vacation, it's up to you. But before you take the step in either direction weigh your options, and you will be on your way to a relaxing and fun experience.
