A giant convoy of gourmet food trucks will convene at the Lagoon Park in Shoreline Village this Saturday, October 9th, 2010. Dubbed the Long Beach Street Food Festival, this convention will be crowded by 25 gourmet food trucks and a field full of visitors eager to savor what each vehicle has to offer.
Plates will begin dishing out starting at 10:30am and wont stop until 5:00pm. So arrive for brunch, stick around for lunch, and then leave after dinnertime. With so much good food surrounding the lagoon, it will be very difficult to refrain from gorging. Tickets are $6 pre-sale online; $8 at the gate. Children 5 and under are free. Pets unfortunately are not allowed.
Note: Only cash will be acceptable at the festival; most trucks arent equipped with Automated Teller Machines just yet.
There will be a worldly selection of eats and treats to choose from. Including: Japanese, Vietnamese, and Filipino food, Gourmet hot dogs, Burgers, Tacos, and Specialty grilled cheese sandwiches. Mediterranean pitas, falafel, and schawarma alongside Korean nachos and Asian-style meatloaf will be a temptation for taste buds . The fusion of food continues with a build-your-own crepe station and a fry truck that offers three different types of fried potatoes with an assortment of dipping sauces to choose from. Two enticing items on the festivals menu include the Kobe beef, bacon, and garlic aioli meatball sandwich, and the pastrami with egg breakfast burrito. Since the festival is on a weekend its acceptable to deviate from a normally healthy diet, so dont forget to save room for dessert! Food prices vary from truck to truck. Snacks and combination platters range from $2 to $12 on average.
Rainbow Harbor Lagoon Park provides plenty of impressive scenery to enjoy while digesting a delicious delectable. The festival is boxed in entirely by views of the Harbor, the Pike, Shoreline Village, the Long Beach Arena, and the magnificent Queen Mary. Patches of grass and shady trees are scattered around the lagoon, so bring a picnic blanket.
What good would a food festival be if there wasnt any live music or if there werent any libations? Thankfully a few bands are scheduled to perform for listeners of all ages. However, the beer garden is restricted to adults 21 and over, obviously.
The festival is thanks to the Junior Chamber of Commerce. This non-profit organization will donate proceeds to the Adopt-a-Teacher Foundation providing grants to teachers for classroom supplies that were never reimbursed.
