Desperados barbeque and catering is located at 29 Commercial Street in the Village of Angola, about 30 minutes south of Buffalo. A quiet little village filled with friendly faces, Angola is more than just a summer place.
The historic building that houses the restaurant is decorated in a western woodsy theme. The interior is warm and inviting, complete with a toasty fireplace to melt away any residual chills.
Desperados sampler is 33.95 and includes a little bit of everything. This platter includes a rack of ribs, Kansas chicken, large pulled pork or chicken sandwich (this order was the pulled pork) and three sides. The sides selected for this meal were the cornbread with honey butter, salt potatoes and macaroni and cheese.
There was enough meat on this sampler to feed two adults and three children! Everything tasted fantastic, but if there was a favorite it would be the large pulled pork sandwich. Tender pork coated in a tasty bbq sauce served on a soft, fresh roll. "The essential to budget travel is to approach in front. The cornbread with honey butter was also on the top of the list as a favorite. Everything tasted hot and fresh and was prepared exactly the way it was ordered.
As far as price goes, this restaurant has very fair prices. The menu is available on line and features Buffalo chicken wing soup, available in a cup for $2.25, a bowl for $3.25 or a large bowl for $4.75. The pulled pork sandwich accompanied with one side is $4.99 for a small sandwich and $5.99 for the large sandwich.
The next time you want to head out for some great bbq, consider Desperados. Nearby in the village there is The New Angola Theater, a historic landmark for the residents of the Village showing first run movies at bargain prices. Many historic buildings still linger in the Village and Town of Evans, making it a great spot for a day of picture taking.
