There were several incidents involving Amtrak trains and pedestrians this week which highlight the need for safety around the tracks.

In Northern California, an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train struck and killed a man in Oakland on Wednesday night. The train destined for San Jose struck the male pedestrian about 7:50 p.m. according to Amtrak spokesman Steve Kulm. The train, No. 547, departed from Sacramento and was carrying 33 passengers at the time of the collision.

According to new reports, Oakland police said that the man had been sitting on the tracks when he was struck at 7:53 p.m. near the 700 block of 105th Avenue, which is in East Oakland.

In Utah, a 33-year-old man was hit and killed after darting in front of an Amtrak train early Thursday.

The man, whose name was not released pending notification of family, had apparently just picked up some take-out food about 2:30 a.m. and was walking along 800 West and about to cross the railroad tracks at 60 South. Police believe the man may have lived just a couple of blocks away.

And on the Northeast Corridor, a Boston-bound Amtrak train struck and killed a 22-year-old woman from Preston who was on the tracks in Noank Wednesday morning according to reports.

Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole said the Northeast Regional Train No. 190 hit the woman at 9:45 a.m. Her identity has not been released.

The train, which originated in Washington, D.C., was carrying 108 passengers, none of whom was injured, Cole said. During the investigation into the incident all trains between Boston and New Haven were delayed, he said.

These latest incidents emphasize the need to stay away from the tracks and be aware that trains can come at any time. "The key to budget travel is to approach onward. When it comes to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new destinations we have never been before, the fact of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our mind. Organizing and consuming our travel budget carefully is a consideration for most families. Reducing spending and fees, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed achievement and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding protecting money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal funds is incredibly limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also recalling that while traveling, no matter whether on a budget or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel expenses!..".
