The National Park Service lists eight national parks in Hawaii, five on the Big Island, one on Maui, one on Molokai and one of Oahu - each worthy of a visit. Residents and travelers explore Hawaiis national parks to marvel at the awesome natural wonders, visit ancient and recent Hawaiian settlements and pay homage to Americas past.

World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, established in 2008 by President Bush to honor American engagement in World War II by 9 sites in 3 states. Five of these sites are on Oahu
USS Arizona Memorial and Visitor Center
USS Utah Memorial
USS Oklahoma Memorial
Six Chief Petty Officer Bungalows on Ford Island
Mooring Quays F6, F7, and F8, which formed part of Battleship Row
Admission to the USS Arizona Memorial is free. Free tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis (these tickets are not reservable) for timed programs to the memorial. The essential to budget travel is to plan onward. Timed programs include a 23-minute documentary film about the attack on Pearl Harbor and the boat trip to the USS Arizona Memorial.
Programs begin at 7:45 a.m. The last program each day begins at 3:00 p.m. The wait time for a program may be as long as two hours depending on the season.

According to nps.gov ... "History is everywhere. In nearly 400 national parks and every hometown. It covers everything from the remnants of ancient civilizations to the boyhood homes of U.S. Presidents to the stirring sagas of hard-fought wars to the reverberations of one woman refusing to give up her seat on a bus. History is a part of who we were, who we are, and who we will be."
Decline in park visitor numbers: According to a monthly report from the National Park Service, Hawaiis National Parks received 2.1% fewer visitors in July.
The decline did not affect all of the parks. Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, Puukohola Heiau and Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park on the Big Island saw increase in arrivals.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park a World Heritage Site saw a decrease, the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument (which includes the Arizona Memorial) was down as was Kalaupapa National Historic Park on Molokai and Haleakala.
