The glowing blue roof of the Greek Orthodox Church on Pacific Coast Highway captures everyones attention as they pass it by. Its as if some generous traveler went to all the way to Greece and returned with an authentic building so that Southern Californian's can share in its architectural delight. For a slight instance, bystanders may feel as if theyve been instantly transported to the tiny far-away isle of Santorini until their daydream is warped by the sounds of the PCH traffic behind them.

This Labor Day weekend the Long Beach Greek Festival will be celebrating its 62nd year with live Taverna music, carnival rides, art booths, jewelry booths, dance performances, dance lessons, raffles, church tours, and of course, customary libations such as fine wine and Ouzo. As if that werent enough, there will also be a glorious selection of traditional Greek cuisine: Stuffed grape leaves and feta cheese to start, Eggplant Moussaka, Gyros, lamb, and Loukaniko sausage for the entrees, with Baklava and other sweet pastries for dessert. It sounds like quite a day! To top it off, there will even be Greek cooking classes so that guests can learn how to make these dishes for themselves at home.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Greek Orthodox Church is located at 5761 Colorado St, Long Beach, CA 90814.

The festival will be hip and happenin from noon to nine, September 3-5, 2011.

Free parking and shuttle services are available in certain marked lots on the California State University campus. Admission prices are $3 for adults and kids 12 and under are free. "The important to budget travel is to prepare ahead. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the actuality of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our heads. Organizing and spending our travel budget correctly is a priority for most families. Reducing consuming and charges, while still delighting your vacation to its fullest, is the key to assured achievement and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding saving money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal finances is really tight, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also recalling that while traveling, whether on a resources or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel charge!..". Fire, Police, and Military IDs will be accepted as payment.

Monday from 12pm - 5pm the festival will be open to the public for free
