There are ordinary people, even in this economic climate, that make a point to travel oversees once every month! They are not millionaires by far, but rather recent college graduates that make way under $50,000 a year yet have the most exciting Facebook photos you will ever see!
We all need to save money, but rough economic conditions do not mean that we dont deserve a vacation. In this authors opinion, we actually need more vacations due to the added stress of being poor all the time.

Here are this weeks best practices:
Strategy 3: Sign up with a Star Alliance or One World partner and collect flight miles if you have not already been doing so. My personal preference is Star Alliance because they have a great set of code share partners, but their recent merge with Continental allowed me marvelous opportunities to save money when I needed to most. Next week we will discuss how Continental Airlines can get you up and traveling in the roughest of times!
Southwest is an excellent airline to sign up with as well, especially if you often fly domestically.
Strategy 2: Believe it or not, those annoying timeshare people can hook you up with some amazing vacation options. Though I have been on hundreds of planes, I never even considered going on a cruise until I attended and rejected a sales pitch for a timeshare.
Timeshare presentations give you a gift for just attending even if you do not make a purchase. Essentially you spend your time, not your money to earn a vacation! My prize for spending an hour watching a young salesman bega 4 day Carnival Cruise with any person of my choosing!
I was only required to pay the taxes on my gift so, call it shameless, but, around the Christmas tree later that year I let my mother know that she would be leaving a miserable winter chill for sunny Mexico, endless entertainment options, all you can eat breakfast, lunches, dinners, desserts, on board shopping, and a lot of relaxation to name a few things. We were not even prepared for how much we would enjoy horseback riding and duty-free shopping at the ports of call we stopped at as part of the cruise ships itinerary. To relax we could soak in the Jacuzzi on board, watch a live musical or work out in the gym.
That timeshare presentation gave us a perfect vacation and a new way to travelnot that I ever let my mother know I paid less than $200 on the whole vacation for the both of us, which again, was only taxes.
Not all timeshare presentations will offer you a cruise, and some timeshare companies are better at keeping their promises than others, but when you find a good onethey are so worth it!
