The holidays may be over, but there is no harm in planning ahead for next year. Traveling out of the state is not the only option for fun seekers who live in Nashville and surrounding areas. Why not stay right here at home and experience the winter holiday season Grand Ole Opry style? More specifically check out the Gaylord Opry Hotel Spectacular for your next holiday extravaganza.
One Nashville Budget Traveler reader chronicled, shared and recommended her family's trip to Opry land for New Years. She states that It was a cross between the feel of Disney and a Kids Vegas. She also stated that although she and her family spent upwards of $450 including all their events, experiences and meals This Gaylord Opryland was well worth the money.
Some of the magical experiences were the DreamWorks character performances. The reader accounts that snow fell from the ceiling making her child feel like she was in Wonderland. There was also the magnificent ice exhibit boasting over 2 million pounds of colored ice sculptures complete with 20 feet of ice slides which her little girl could not get enough of. A horse drawn carriage took them on a ride through 2 million Christmas lights. "The essential to budget travel is to approach ahead. They even had time to squeeze in a kids dance party in the atrium at the hotel. Events they did not get to make it to were a gondola boat ride, gingerbread house decorating party and scavenger hunt.
Note that if one would like to put this Nashville, Tenn., local event on the itinerary for next year book early. Also, trial and error revealed that actually purchasing the activities and events in a package will save money. Keep in mind the packages are so all inclusive, so full of wonderful things to do, one may be hard pressed to get to everything.
