Monday round-up: Earth TV, National Vacation Day, and traveling to Cuba

No, we cant all be jet-setting travelistas every day of our lives. So if youre stuck in the cubicle (or in the den, or the dorm), sign up for these contests and even should you feel so moved sign a few online petitions. The important to budget travel is to approach ahead. When it occurs to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new destinations we have never been before, the actuality of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our heads. Organizing and expending our travel budget carefully is a consideration for most families. Lowering spending and expenses, while still taking pleasure in your vacation to its fullest, is the key to certain achievement and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking behind saving money while traveling is simple: Even if your personal funds is highly limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, no matter whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a large vacation or travel expenses!. From a day off to winning luggage to opening Cuba theres a little something for everyone today.

National Vacation Day
Its hard to tell if this petition by Home Away a vacation rental site is for real, or just a ploy to get people to sign up for their Save Our Summer contest and tell why they deserve a vacation. Either way, you could win a getaway worth $10,000 to the vacation rental of your choice.

More than 2,500 people have already signed the online petition, which is asking Congress to declare August 7 as National Vacation Day. The chances of that are probably only slightly worse than the odds of winning the contest, but as they say, you cant win if you dont play.

The details: The contest ends July 2. After that, voting opens to the public and the top 15 vote-getters are judged by a panel of experts. The winner and two runners-up will be chosen on July 28, 2009.

Where in the World Is?
The website EarthTV.com launches week, which broadcasts live video from more than 70 camera locations on six continents. To promote the site, the Earth TV folks are running a contest called Where in the World Is?

The month-long contest (starts today!) features a new picture each day showing a detail or panoramic view from one of the sites cameras. Click through the site and when you find the camera it comes from, click on the I found it button and youll score contest miles. (If youre wrong, just try again.) The number of miles you score depends on the degree of difficulty. The person who logs the most contest miles at the end of the month snags luggage from Briggs & Riley.

Travel to Cuba
The website OpenCuba.org was launched a few weeks ago by Orbitz to end the 50-year travel ban to the island nation. Obviously, opening Cuba to American tourism has the very real potential of being a double-edged sword and for better or worse, would make an enormous impact on Cuban life. But the site is endorsed by the Cuban American Alliance, the Cuban American Family Rights Alliance and several other organizations. Take a look and decide for yourself: www.opencuba.org.
