Canada names Chicago O'Hare "Top Turkey"

Okay. I'm all for friendly relations with our neighbors to the north and south - and so I have problems with this one.A FlightNetwork.com-sponsored survey of Canadian travelers looking for the "Top Turkey" airport in the United States has named Chicago's O'Hare Airport as their least favorite.

First of all, I think it is highly offensive to American turkeys. Comparing this tasty and magnificent bird - who no less a personage than Benjamin Franklin suggested for the position of "Top Bird" ultimately claimed by the Bald Eagle - to an airport perceived to have problems is highly undiplomatic at best.

Secondly, though I have my least-favorite airports in the U.S. and around the world, Chicago-O"Hare is actually not one of them. Maybe I've just had absurdly good luck with my many flights through there, but as airports go, it's not that bad.

And, finally, come on - was finding out the Canadian opinion of this issue just "accidentally" timed for the week of celebrating our national turkey-centric day of thanks? Plus, American popular mythology paints the Canadians as a kinder, gentler, more self-reliant version of Americans and despite South Park's "Blame Canada" campaign, most Americans feel that way.

Flightnetwork.com "invites Canadian and American travelers to share their American Airport travel horror stories' on their blog- with the chance to win a $100 (that's Canadian)voucher.

To be fair, they did survey Canadian travelers on their feelings about their own worst airports in Canada before turning the critical eye to their neighbors to the south.
