Budget travel week in review - brackets and airline prizes, more of Spain, and next week's preview

As we take a look back on this last week, we dive a little deeper into Spain, enjoy more deals from Southwest, and use our NCAA brackets for a chance to win travel prizes.

Monday

Win free travel with your brackets during March Madness - Southwest airlines sponsored a contest in which NCAA brackets could be entered for a chance to win travel prizes. Random and round-by-round winners would be chosen with a grand prize of Southwest travel for a year.

Wednesday

A budget travel adventure Part III - Barcelona to La Coruna (photo slideshow) - After spending one more day in Barcelona seeing Olympics sites and more of Montjuic, I head to La Coruna in northwest Spain to spend time with a friend, make new friends, and explore the area of Spain known as Galicia.

Thursday

Last day to get Southwest deals for as low as $59 - Southwest was offering another fare deal for various flights throughout the country. Flights were for April through June travel. If you missed this deal, stay tuned as there will be more deals soon getting you ready for your summer vacations.

Friday

A budget travel adventure Part IV - a taste of Madrid (photo slideshow) - Part IV of the trip through Spain and Portugal takes us to Madrid where we get a look at the Prado, Retiro Park, the Royal Palace, and the Plaza Mayor.

The series on Spain and Portugal in entering its third week. So if you missed out on Parts I - IV, check them out to read about my adventures, see what lessons I learned, and enjoy the photos from each of these cities.

Next week - Stay tuned for more of Spain including the rest of Madrid as well as Granada, home to the Alhambra. Also, we will take a look at some travel tips and information that will be useful for people as they plan their weekend trips and summer vacations. The essential to budget travel is to plan ahead. When it occurs to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the fact of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our thoughts. Organizing and spending our travel budget properly is a consideration for most families. Reducing spending and charges, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed success and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking behind protecting money while traveling is simple: Even if your personal funds is extremely small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, regardless of whether on a funds or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel bill!. Don't miss out on the tips and information that could help you plan and save on your travel this summer.
