MSP airfare sale with free wi-fi ends Thursday; one-ways from $59

AirTran Airways has a new airfare sale from the Twin Cities, but youd better hurry as reservations must be made no later than Thursday at midnight, November 18. Travel is offered during this promotion through February 9, 2011, with the lowest fares being available for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are additional off-peak sale fares at slightly higher prices on Mondays and Thursdays. A 10-day advance purchase is required and blackout dates apply during the Thanksgiving holiday time period as well as from December 18, 2010 through January 4, 2011.



The Orlando-based discount carrier has agreed to be acquired by Southwest Airlines and that deal is expected to be finalized late next year. Until then the two airlines are operating independently and offering their own deals. AirTran and Southwest serve Minnesota from Terminal 2/Humphrey at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. AirTran flies non-stop to Milwaukee, Atlanta and Orlando, with connections throughout its route system from these hubs. Its entire fleet of aircraft is wi-fi equipped, and internet access is being offered free of charge in conjunction with Google Chrome from November 20 of this year through January 2, 2011.



Airfares start at just one-way to Milwaukee, with dozens of other cities in the eastern half of the U.S. being priced below $100 each way. Even travel to the west coast can be had for less than $300 round-trip, and as always AirTran does not require a round-trip purchase in order to take advantage of its super low fares. Security fees, segment taxes and passenger facility charges are additional, as are checked bag fees. Those fees are expected to go away with the Southwest merger.



AirTran operates a fleet of full-size Boeing 717 and 737 aircraft in a two-class configuration. Business class fares are not included in this airfare sale.
