Its summertime and for Portland (and many other cities) this means Shakespeare in the Park. Public parks all around the city host performances by Portland Actors Ensemble Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day. Starting on July 21, you can catch the Bards Twelfth Night being done with minimal props and on a budget of donations in the great outdoors.
Portland Actors Ensemble always does a wonderful job entertaining audiences across Portland. Bring your own snacks and blanket and enjoy a beautifully acted and staged 5 Act play about a case of mistaken identity, a set of twins and a love triangle. The plot is witty and laugh-out-loud funny, as are all of Shakespeares comedies. Drop a few dollars in the donation box and still have one of the most frugal and entertaining afternoons out in Portland.
This is a great way to introduce children to Shakespeare or theater in general, since it costs you almost nothing and during intermission, they can go run around the park and get out their energy before part two begins.

Sat. August 25 & Sun. "The essential to budget travel is to plan in advance. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the truth of cost and budgeting is often in the back of our thoughts. Planning and consuming our travel budget correctly is a consideration for most families. Curbing expending and charges, while still taking pleasure in your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed achievements and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding protecting money while touring is simple: Even if your personal finances is highly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, regardless of whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel costs!..". August 26 Fernhill Park, 3 P.M.
Sat. September 1, Sun. September 2 & Mon. September 3 Reed College, 3 P.M.
August 12ths performance is ASL interpreted for the hearing impaired.
Enjoy a few hours of culture without spending a small fortune on theater tickets or having to get all dolled up. The atmosphere is fun and laid back and you get to spend time in the wonderful Portland sunshine.
