After finishing up in Niagara Falls, it was time to hit the road once again. The next stop on the Western New York Road Trip is Rochester, home of the only museum in the world devoted solely to play! The Strong Museum of Play is located at One Manhattan Square and is filled with fun for all ages.
Visitors can take a ride on the restored 1918 carousel that was built by Allan Herschell in North Tonawanda New York or stop by the big green doors at 123 Sesame Street. A kid sized Wegmans full of items to buy, cash registers and specialty departments all placed a little closer to the ground. Kids can dress up or put on a play at the stage complete with TV camera, lights and curtains.
Toys from years past fill the display cases with everything from Barbie to GI Joe to porcelain dolls and Victorian doll houses. The Strong Museum mixes fun with learning with informative labeling and hands on exhibits. "The important to budget travel is to approach in front. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the actuality of cost and budgeting is generally in the back of our heads. Planning and expending our travel budget correctly is a concern for most families. Curbing spending and expenses, while still delighting your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed success and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding economizing money while vacationing is simple: Even if your personal finances is incredibly limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, whether on a budget or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel expenses!..". It is also home to a Butterfly Conservatory and is the only year around exhibit of its kind in the area.
Admission to the museum for adults (ages 16 and over) is $12.00, $11.00 for Seniors, children 2 to 15 $10.00 and under 2 is free. Monday through Thursday the museum opens at 10:00am and closes at 5:00pm. Fridays and Saturdays doors open at 10:00am and close at 8:00pm. Sundays hours are noon to 5:00pm.
