2012 Louisiana State H.O.G. rally site announced

The Louisiana State Harley Owner's Group (H.O.G.) rally was held in Alexandria this past weekend. The weather was perfect in the low 70's and upper 80's. Throngs of Harley owners rolled into the city starting on Thursday night, and the Renegade Harley-Davidson dealership welcomed them with music, food and beverages, as well as a large array of merchandise and motorcycles on the showroom floor to drool over.

Vendors displayed and sold food, beverages and motorcycle gear and accessories on site outside the Rapides Parish Coliseum. There were even some Shreveport vendor friends of mine there; Jay Leopard's Custom Paint Cafe and my mechanic buddy at J-n-J Sidecars and Trikes. Jay (of Jay Leopard's) treated me to his famous grilled mac and cheese sandwich. If you haven't had one yet, and are ever in Shreveport, the local bikers know how to find him. Or just throw the Corner of Hwy 71 and Hwy 2 East in your GPS, and you'll have no trouble getting to his cafe in Hossten, LA.

Brewzerz, a well known biker bar in Alec (as the locals call Alexandria) took advantage of the influx of motorcycles and had their own vendors, entertainment and food, including delectable, spicy crawfish. Anytime of the day, one could find entertainment at this friendly establishment.

On Saturday morning, several members rallied to support Shreveport/Bossier area as the next rally site. On Saturday night the band played, The Guess Who, and Valerie Ledterman, Harley Motor Company Regional Representative, announced the next rally site would be awarded to Lafayette. "The key to budget travel is to plan in advance. When it occurs to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the reality of cost and budgeting is often in the back of our heads. Preparation and expending our travel budget wisely is a consideration for most families. Minimizing expending and fees, while still experiencing your vacation to its fullest, is the key to certain achievements and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding protecting money while touring is simple: Even if your personal budget is really small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a large vacation or travel bill!..". So, next year, we'll see you all in Cajun country.
