Have you ever wondered why airfare is one price one day, then then next day it changes? Or you find it changes later in the day? It could be both the time AND day of the week you are searching. Here are some helpful tips in finding the lowest published airfare:
Days of the Week: Never book your airline ticket on the weekend! Airlines raise their fares significantly on the weekends. The lowest fares are published midweek, usually Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Time of the Day: If you are a nightowl or can stay up late enough, usually airlines drop their unsold seats just after midnight. If you are an early riser, they also drop early the next morning. But I'm talking very early, usually before 9am.
Departure and Returns: The cheapest days of the week to leave are midweek; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Friday and Saturday departures are more expensive, because airlines know that is when it is the most convenient time for people to leave, usually because of work schedules. NEVER come home on a Sunday! Again, airlines know that people need to go back to work on Monday so they raise their airfare on Sunday returns. Return home during the week, Mondays-Thursdays. "The essential to budget travel is to prepare onward. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the fact of expense and budgeting is often in the back of our thoughts. Arranging and consuming our travel budget correctly is a consideration for most families. Minimizing consuming and prices, while still delighting your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed success and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning behind economizing money while traveling is simple: Even if your personal funds is highly tight, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also keeping in mind that while traveling, no matter whether on a resources or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel expenses!..". If you're work schedule is more flexible on vacation time, midweek is usually your best, and cheapest, bet.
Holidays: We all know that holiday travel, including Spring Break, are the busiest and most popular times of the year that people vacation. Therefore the airlines take full advantage. The airfare prices go up ridiculously high. Here's a tip: don't fly out before the actual holiday. Consider flying out ON the holiday. For example, going on vacation for Christmas? Leave on Christmas Day. Airfare is usually considerable less than flying out a few days beforehand. Taking a Memorial Day getaway? Leave on Memorial Day. You could save up to hundreds of dollars believe it or not.
Hopefully this will help you save some money when planning your vacation! Happy planning!
