When you think about the area around Hershey, Pennsylvania, you think about chocolate. You have the famous Hersheypark theme park and the chocolate factory, but one hidden treasure in that region is a railroad.
In the southeastern suburbs of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is the town of Middletown. Here, you will find a street that has an active railroad line that runs down a street, one of the fewest places in the United States where this happens. Follow the line, and you come upon the train station for the Middletown and Hummlestown Railroad which was once known as the Milk and Honey Line. From this station, built in 1891, many excursions are run. The trip leaves the station, and you go along Swatara Creek in vintage Delaware, Lackawanna and Western passenger cars.
You can take a simple excursion, or you can ride one of their many specialty trains to include many dinner trains, caboose rides, and rides for different times of the year.
