Walking into Manhattan across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge can be the start of a terrific low-cost New York walking tour. It is a day filled with cityscape, history, street food and window-shopping, not to mention exercise.

Start by getting to Brooklyn. From Baltimore, grab the Megabus or one of the many daily charter bus services to Times Square. Or drive to New York yourself, crossing through the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel. Find parking near 34th Street and the Empire State Building. Take a Red Line Subway to Clark Street in Brooklyn and find your way to the bridge. Walk across, and then find your way back to your car.

On the way, savor and enjoy one of the loveliest urban walks on the East Coast. From the Brooklyn Bridge, the view of the lower Manhattan skyline is nothing short of spectacular. Once downtown, choose from dozens of points of interest to fill your walking route. Choose to walk along the East River shoreline. Check out South Street Seaport, New York's answer to Baltimore's Harborplace. "The essential to budget travel is to prepare ahead. When it comes to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the truth of expense and budgeting is always in the back of our thoughts. Preparation and spending our travel budget properly is a priority for most families. Curbing consuming and charges, while still enjoying your vacation to its fullest, is the key to confirmed achievements and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning regarding protecting money while touring is simple: Even if your personal funds is highly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, whether on a resources or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a large vacation or travel expenses!..". Continue to Battery Park and take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Return to Battery Park and start walking north.

In lower Manhattan an excellent way north is Broadway. Pass by City Hall Park, with its picturesque fountain and large ketchup bottle. Window shop. Take in the Streetscape. Purchase a falafel from a push cart vendor. Walk all the way to 34th Street and look at shoes in Macy's.

Walking in New York is spectacular, and it doesn't have to cost a fortune to see it. Just go for a walk.
