Another week in travel still saw us waiting on the big holiday airfare sale. However, the week started with big news that Southwest had bought Air Tran. And for budget travel fans, this could be big news as Southwest will expand its coverage in the US and even begin flights to destinations outside of the US.
While there aren't many cheap flights on sale for the holidays yet, it doesn't mean there aren't still plenty of travel deals for Thanksgiving, Fall, Winter, and Spring for domestic and international travel destinations.
While Fall signals the end of cruise season, we take a look at cruises and compare ocean and river cruises. We round out the week with some weekend events in Lake Tahoe.
Monday
Southwest Airlines set to acquire AirTran for $1.4 billion - As Southwest and Air Tran merge, this means Southwest will extend its coverage in the South, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast regions while venturing into the Carribean and Mexico as well. Get all the information and what it means to you.
Tuesday
Thanksgiving, Fall, Winter, and Spring flights to Brazil, Europe, the Carribean, and the US - American and United Airlines launched a number of airfare sales to places all over the world. All of these deals are still going on now so book your domestic and international travel with these cheap flights.
More cheap flights for Fall on Southwest and Frontier Airlines - While airfare deals weren't the big news this week for Southwest, they still announced another Fall airfare sale while Frontier had their own airfare sale to destinations all over the US.
Wednesday

Lake Tahoe events this weekend: Kokanee Salmon Festival and Oktoberfest - One of the biggest and best weekends of the Fall was this past weekend in Lake Tahoe. Two huge events - Kokanee Salmon Festival and Oktoberfest - were going on this weekend, just a couple of miles apart.
