As we celebrate American's birth on July 4th, many will gather to honor the red, white, and blue in many cities across the country. From Washington DC to New York City to Los Angeles, there will be plenty of parties, gatherings, fireworks, and barbecues to honor this great country.

With Independence Day falling on a Sunday, this will be a long weekend for many people and a great opportunity to enjoy many weekend events in Sacramento. If you are looking for something to do this weekend, here are a few things to kick off your July 4th weekend.

Community Events

Many local communities in Sacramento will celebrate with events and fireworks. The key to budget travel is to prepare onward. When it occurs to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the truth of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our mind. Organizing and spending our travel budget carefully is a priority for most families. Reducing expending and expenses, while still experiencing your vacation to its fullest, is the key to confirmed success and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning regarding saving money while vacationing is simple: Even if your personal funds is incredibly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel expenses!. Here are a few of those events from around the area:

Davis - A July 4th celebration takes place at Community Park with Latin and world music from Yolo Mambon from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on July 4th.

Folsom - Folsom's 50th annual July 4th Pro Rodeo kicked off Friday night and will run through July 4th at Russell Arena. Each night there will be fireworks and laser show as the rodeo features events like carnival rides, chuck wagon races, food, music, and of course, rodeo! Tickets are $19 for adults while seniors and children 12 and under are $15.

Elk Grove - Enjoy the 14th Annual Salute to the Red, White, and Blue at Elk Grove Regional Park on July 4th from 3 pm to 10 pm. Enjoy music, entertainment, a children's area, and fireworks.

Cameron Park - The 11th Annual Summer Spectacular & Fireworks is being celebrated at Cameron Park Lake and will feature the music of Steelin Dan and more. Enjoy food, crafts, exhibitors, and fireworks from 3 to 10 pm.

El Dorado Hills - Independence Day Fireworks Jubilee will be celebrated on July 3 from 4 to 10 pm at the El Dorado Hills Town Center. So come out and enjoy food, music, and fireworks.

Roseville - Join the 4th of July fun at Royer park from 11 am to 2 pm with fun, food, and games and a concert by the Capital Pops Concert Band at noon. Enjoy the fireworks at 9:30 pm on the Placer County Fairgrounds.

Carmichael - July 4th parade and fireworks begin with a Fireworks Breakfast from 7 am to 11 am at the Elks Lodge on Cypress Ave. The parade will begin at 11 am while the BBQ, music, kids games, and more will go start at 6: 30 pm with the fireworks starting at 9:15 pm at the La Sierra Community Center.

Rancho Cordova - The 4th of July Celebration in Rancho Cordova will be one of the area's biggest and it continues over 2 days on July 3 and 4th. The parade kicks off the weekend on July 3rd at 10 am on Coloma Road and ends near Hagan Park. There will be lots of food, a kid zone, a beer garden, concerts (including former Bad Company lead singer Brian Howe), carnival rides, and fireworks. Fireworks will start each night at 9:45 pm.

Sacramento - A couple of big events are taking place in Sacramento so check out these 4th of July celebrations:

  • Sacramento River Cats vs Fresno Grizzlies - rivalries are renewed on the AAA minor league field between the A's and Giants and the River Cats battle the Grizzlies on July 3 at 6:35 pm. When the game is done, fireworks will follow.
  • Cal Expo Fireworks - One of the more spectacular fireworks displays happens at Cal Expo as the City and County of Sacramento begin their explosive festivities at 9:30 pm on July 4th. Admission is free but parking inside the gates is $10. So bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy the show.

Fireworks - If you aren't attending any of these events but are planning your own fun and fireworks, check out the many fireworks booths around Sacramento. Note that many of the fireworks booths are supporting local communities and organizations like youth sports and groups like YFC.

Still got World Cup Fever?
