Theres more to see in Dallas than well, Dallas. For those on the tightest of budgets, a staycation may be the answer. Play the tourist for a day and tour your own city or county. And if youre visiting Dallas, be sure to check out some of the surrounding cities.

Old Downtown Carrollton
If you appreciate a little history with your shopping, Old Downtown Carrollton is a great place to spend the day. The historic square, at Belt Line Road and Main Street, is a popular destination for events and is pedestrian-friendly.
Find a spot on the patio at Agave Azul for lunch. The flour tortillas are homemade and the bar offers more than 150 tequilas. Dinner at Babes Chicken is not to be missed. The BYOB eatery is always filled with customers, happy to fill up on family-style servings. Sids Rainbow Grill is the perfect place for a malt or a shake, especially during the Texas summer.
For history buffs, be sure to take the DART rail to the Old Red Museum in downtown Dallas to see the Carrollton exhibit. The exhibit closes May 10 and features artifacts, photographs, and stories on the history of Carrollton.
Shops in Old Downtown Carrollton offer antiques, quilts, clothes, gifts, flowers and bicycles. Some shops close by 5 p.m., so be sure to get there early. If you are looking for a place to unwind, visit A Breath of Yoga. Drop-ins are welcome and the venue is inviting with quiet spaces to practice and small classes.
