Live music fans may want to pack a picnic and some blankets, and spend their weeknight evenings in Longmont. The city is hosting free concerts at three separate venues Tuesday through Thursday nights throughout the summer.
Concerts in the Park
Roosevelt Park is the location for the Tuesday concerts. Boulder-based a cappella favorite Face will kick off this series on June 8, 2010. The show will run from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Bring your own blanket or lawn chair as seating is not provided. While you may bring a picnic dinner, no alcohol is allowed in the city park. Evenings at the Museum
The Longmont Museums courtyard is the venue for the Wednesday evening performances. Cowboy musician Bill Barwick will open the series on June 30. The shows begin at 7:00 p.m. The essential to budget travel is to prepare onward. Other musical acts include The Low Flying Knobs, an all womens Afro-pop marimba ensemble, on July 7, and Irish music from Colcannon on July 21. The concerts are not on consecutive Wednesdays. Downtown Longmont Summer Concert Series
Downtown Longmont, at 4th Ave and Kimbark St., is the location of the Thursday concerts. The event begins at 6:00 p.m., when food and beverages, including alcohol, will be on sale. Music begins at 7:00 p.m. and lasts until 8:30 p.m. The series kicks off on June 24 with a performance by the FAB 4, a Beatles tribute band. Other performers include Buckstein, featuring American Idol contestant Matt Buckstein, on July 8, and country rock band Pure Prairie League on July 23.
