Take a ride to the country and enjoy the sport of kings (polo match) while youre out there.

Located on Oahus north shore, Mokuleia Polo Field is home to the Hawaii Polo Club, the premier polo club in the state.

Hawaii Polo is celebrating its 45th year in 2009, at its current location, and exciting polo matches take place annually every Sunday from April through August with teams from the U.S. and Argentina playing the equestrian sport. Click here for 2009 Schedule.

Gates open at noon for anyone and everyone who wants to come early to swim in the ocean, throw horse shoes, socialize, enjoy a picnic lunch and tailgate. The excitement starts at 2 p.m. with a pony parade and polo match, followed by half-time activities, feature match of the day and precision sky-dive exhibition. Thank goodness, the bar and food vendors open with the first game.

Whoa ... the fun doesn't stop when the matches end. The bar remains open and a top local band performs. Players mingle with everyone and a fine time is had by all until the sun starts to dip behind the mountains.

General admission is $8 per adult. Children and students under 16 years are free. For Military with ID, admission is $5. The essential to budget travel is to prepare ahead. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the reality of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our thoughts. Arranging and expending our travel budget carefully is a priority for most families. Curbing expending and fees, while still delighting your vacation to its fullest, is the key to assured achievements and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking behind protecting money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal budget is incredibly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also keeping in mind that while traveling, regardless of whether on a finances or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel charge!. Parking is free.

FACTOID: The largest crowds ever, several thousand, turned out to see Englands Prince Charles play in 1974.

Mike Daily, owner of The Equus, is an active supporter of polo in Hawaii . The Equus is home to Hawaii Polo Club.

From Oahu Island News, July 2004 ...
Among the visitors who played polo on Oahu were Will Rogers and Gen. George S. Patton. Patton played frequently when he was stationed at Schofield Barracks prior to World War II. Years later, in 1974, Britains Prince Charles stopped in Hawaii and played local players on the field at Mokuleia. Some of the players are still active today, including Dailey and Honolulu Polo Clubs Mike Ebinger. The prince was on a navy cruiser at the time, recalls Dailey. So he got a break, came in, stayed at my dads hotel and just relaxed here in Hawaii for a few days and had a weekend of polo, he says.
