Travel deal - last day to book Accor hotels worldwide for up to 50% off

Here's a great travel deal for you: Accor, which manages the hotel chains Ibis, Mercure, and Novotel, announced a worldwide sale offering heavily discounted hotel rooms. Discounts are up to 50% off in some cases. Dubbed the Super Sale, you must book by today, November 1, for stays from December 12 to February 12. All bookings must be paid in advance. Cancellations and changes are not permitted.

Included in the sale are 65 hotels spanning all the continents, with the exception of Antarctica. Travelers who will be going out of the United States during this time period should definitely check to see if there is a hotel available for their destination and dates. Accor's two star budget brand, Ibis, provides the best deals. Accor's more upscale brands, Novotel and Mercure, are geared towards travelers wanting more amenities.

The sale period is perfect if you're looking to go to Europe to experience their famous Christmas markets. For my test period of December 16 to December 19, a room at the Mercure Hotel Berlin Mitte in Berlin, Germany averaged $61.42 a night, discounted from $95.54. The Suite Novotel Muenchen Parkstadt Schwabing in Munich, Germany has a suite for an average of $67.56 a night, discounted from $94.17. Travel and Leisure has a slideshow of Europe's best Christmas markets.

If you'd rather be in warmer weather, head over to South America. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, where the exchange rate is still extremely favorable for American travelers, a room at the Novotel Buenos Aires is averaging $125 a night, discounted from $200.

December through February is also a good time to visit Thailand, where there are a total of 20 hotels participating in Bangkok alone.
