Weekend events: Fun things to do in Los Angeles (Sept. 24-25)

Angelenos, this weekend is a great time to take a staycation in Los Angeles. From lobster festivals along the beach to a community celebration in Venice, there are loads of activities and events to keep you and your family busy over the next two days.

1. Cinespia

Cinespia film screenings in Hollywood Forever Cemetery is a decade long L.A. tradition. This Saturday, join fellow film fans for the last screening of the summer. This weekends feature is Steven Spielbergs E.T.

2. Redondo Beach Surf n Turf Lobster Festival

Tis the season of lobster fests! Grab the family (and some bibs) and head to Redondo Beach this weekend to enjoy live music and entertainment and of course, fresh lobster.

• When: Saturday-Sunday, September 24-25; Noon 11 PM (Saturday), Noon 8 PM (Sunday)

3. Precious Cheese Italian Feast of San Gennaro Los Angeles

This 3-day feast celebrates all thing Italian. Festivities include bocce ball, carnival rides, music, and food.

4. 2011 Cherry Blossom Festival Southern California

First started in 2002, this annual festival celebrates Japanese and Japanese American culture. The festival takes place in L.A.s Little Tokyo district and is packed with entertainment, food, music, and shopping.

5. 6th Annual Frogtown Artwalk

Enjoy local art during this free, self-guided tour of the studios and galleries in the Elysian Valley area.

6. Abbot Kinney Festival

Celebrating its 27th year, the Abbot Kinney Festival happens in Venice this weekend. Come down to enjoy a day full of live music, local artisans, and family entertainment.
