Escape the L.A. Gridlock Package Coinciding with 405 Freeway Closure

WHAT : At Island Hotel in Newport Beach a resort oasis adjacent to Fashion Island the Escape the L.A. Gridlock package comes to the rescue of road weary motorists.

WHY:The hype began weeks ago, with the imminent closure of the 405 dubbed Carmaggedon. The Los Angeles freeways are harrowing at any time of the year, but from July 15 through 17, the Southlands busiest freeway will be closed for a ten-mile stretch in order for workers to make necessary road improvements. Travelers are being warned of impending chaos, with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa advising locals to "go on vacation." With this in mind, Island Hotel has designed a special package so travelers can stay south of the freeway closure to avoid the dreaded freeway closure, projected to generate a traffic jam of epic proportions.

Rates start at $199 on Friday and Sunday nights, and at $225 on Saturday night, and include valet parking and daily breakfast for two offering up to a 35 percent savings.
