Texas is one of the most haunted states in the nation with over 200 ghost towns. Did you know Houston is rich with ghost stories and paranormal activity?
If you are downtown you may want to check out these haunts.
The old Rice Hotel now the Post Rice Lofts at 909 Texas Avenue is a great place to start. JFK spent his last night alive in this hotel in November 1963. The room he slept in is said to be haunted. Ghost dancers have also appeared in the ballroom.
La Carafe is the oldest commercial building in Houston and reportedly home to the spirit of a former bartender who passed away in 1990.
The Spaghetti Warehouse was an old pharmaceutical warehouse. The owner died in the elevator. Paranormal reports include equipment turning itself on and off, a white lady, utensils and dishes being thrown around.
Cemetery lovers may enjoy visiting one of these haunts.
Glenwood Cemetery on Washington Ave. was established in 1871. Howard Hughes is buried here. In 1977 the caretaker was murdered and this remains an unsolved mystery.
Alief Cemetery on Bellaire Blvd. and Dairy Ashford has a reputation for being haunted. This Pioneer cemetery was overlooked when apartments were built overlapping the property. Some of the apartments are rumored to be haunted.
Addicks Bear Creek Cemetery on Patterson Rd and Highway 6 is a 20thcentury cemetery still in use. Victims of the 1900 Galveston flood are rumored to be buried here.
