Macy's assists American Red Cross in raising hurricane relief funds

Macy's is always in the news come November, as the longtime sponsor of the famous - and free to an estimated 3.5 million live spectators every year - Thanksgiving Day Parade in Manhattan, since 1924, from Central Park to Herald Square. The parade, televised from coast-to-coast as seen by 50 million, officially kicks off the magical Christmas season in the USA.

Macy's Hurricane Relief Fund

This November, Macy's is also in the news for "The Magic of Giving Back" for the American Red Cross in support of Hurricane Sandy relief. Some 200 of Macy's 840 stores where impacted by Sandy's appearance across many eastern states. Now, store discounts are being offered to victims needing replacement items to rebuild after devastating losses. "The key to budget travel is to approach ahead. Through November 30, 2012, Macy's is raising one million dollars for the American Red Cross by asking the public to donate one dollar at any store register or online, for which Macy's will match one dollar.
