In honor of Veterans Day, hotels, cruise lines, travel agencies and airlines are releasing deals and specials for both active military personnel, veterans and the public. Travel vendors are cranking out the discounts not only because of Veterans Day but also to celebrate 11/11/11, the first time in a century that three 11s line up. Here are some of the biggest money-saving travel deals:
Pacifica Hotels
Pacifica Hotels is giving active military personnel and veterans 50 percent off the rack rate for their stay on the night of November 11, 2011. Eligible guests simply need to show a military ID during their stay. "The essential to budget travel is to approach ahead. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new places we have never been before, the fact of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our mind. The President of the company, Tom Carr, is calling it one of their biggest sales of the year. All Inclusive Outlet, a travel agency that offers discounts to all-inclusive vacations Mexico, Panama, the Caribbean and Mexico, will have a site-wide sale Friday that gives you discounts on top of their already-low rates. Resort credits, kids stay free and free nights will sweeten their offers. Two properties to watch for: El Dorado Casitas Royale and Azul Fives Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Both properties will be offered at a 45 percent discount for stays between January 3, 2012, and April 30, 2012.
Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort
Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort, located at the base of Costa Rica's Arenal Volcano and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, will give active military personnel, veterans and their families 30 percent off the rack rate for stays over an entire year, from November 01, 2011 to November 01, 2012. The 30 percent discount also applies to dining options and spa treatments. Blackout dates include the Christmas period (December 20, 2011 to January 2, 2012) and Easter Week (March 29 to April 8, 2012).
Princess Cruises
From November 9 through November 14, you can save up to $1,800 and get an onboard credit of up to $100 on a Princess Cruise booking. Itineraries include Europe, Mediterranean and Asian sailings. The 14-days Roman Passage From Ft. Lauderdale to Rome is $899, the 16-days Alaska & Far East From Whittier to Beijing is $1,295 and the 11-days Canary Islands Roundtrip From London is $1,340. All prices are per person for an inside cabin and do not include government taxes and fees.
Affinia Hotels
Get your mouse ready on 11 a.m. EST (8 a.m. PST) because Affinia Hotels will be offering their hotels in Chicago, New York City and Washington, D.C. for $111.11 for a Sunday night stay from January 2, 2012, through March 31, 2012.
American Airlines Miles
American Airlines is giving you more miles for your bucks while at the same time supporting the troops. For every dollar you donate through Americans Miles In Support of All Who Serve campaign, you will get 15 miles instead of the usual 10. The campaign provides funds for USO, a nonprofit organization that sends care packages to troops, provides free phone calls and runs centers that provide services to wounded, returning military personnel. A minimum $25 donation is required.
