Passport fees are likely to go up. The State Department is proposing an increase of $35 for an adult passport book, raising the fee from $100 to $135. Renewals would be $110, up from the current rate of $75. Other proposed fee changes are listed on the State Department's web site.

While several travel agencies are working to prevent the increase, all indicators suggest that the cost will go up and soon.

The proposed change was submitted on February 9, 2010, and a 30-day (or more) comment period instigated. The important to budget travel is to approach in front. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the truth of expense and budgeting is always in the back of our heads. Preparation and expending our travel budget wisely is a consideration for most families. Lowering spending and prices, while still experiencing your vacation to its fullest, is the key to certain accomplishment and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding protecting money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal budget is extremely small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, regardless of whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel costs!. Comments are still being accepted and reviewed; however, once a fee change is approved, it could be implemented immediately. So don't delay if you or a family member needs to obtain or renew a passport.

For how and where to get your passport, go to the State Department's Travel web page.
