Historic Hawaiian Hall (main exhibition gallery) at Bishop Museum reopened to the public on August 8 after being closed for more than two years. Hawaiian Hall is the original cut-stone building which appears in many of the Museums exterior photographs and dates from 1889.
During its closure, the tri-level Hawaiian Hall underwent its first major renovation in over 100 years and, according to the website,
"the result is a state of the art Museum that embodies a Native Hawaiian world view, layered in meaning and authentic in voice."
Hawaiian Hall contains the world's largest collection of Polynesian artifacts. It offers visitors deeper insights into Hawaiian culture and access to a number of the Museums treasured collections.
During renovation, other parts of the Museum campus were open including the Jhamandas Watumull Planetarium, J. Linsley Gressit Center for Research in Entomology and Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame and Richard T. Mamiya Science Adventure Center.
Founded in 1889, Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Hawaii's museum of natural and cultural history, is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Open Wednesday to Monday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Museum is closed on Tuesdays and Christmas Day (December 25)
There is ample free parking

Free Admission to Bishop Museum Members
General - Adult $ 15.95
General - Senior, 65 & over $ 12.95
General - child (ages 4-12) $ 12.95
General - child (age 3 & under) Free
The following rates are available for kamaaina and military visitors to Bishop Museum:
$8.95 - General Admissison
$7.95 - Child (4-12) and Senior (65+)
You will need to show an ID to secure these rates.
