It may seem hard to believe, but volcanic ash from Iceland is causing headaches at Chicagos OHare International Airport. The country and the volcano sits on a major transatlantic route, which means that nearly two dozen flights to Europe were cancelled or delayed yesterday at OHare. The volcanic ash which can erode cockpit windows and even cause engines to stall - spewed more than six miles into air starting on Wednesday.
The situation is so massive that all British Airways flights both incoming and outbound have been cancelled until 1 a.m. Saturday, UK time. The airline has completely suspended its on-line check in function and is advising customers to stay home until they check the status of their flights.
Air France, American, Continental, United, Delta, and other airlines have also cancelled or delayed flights to Europe. The key to budget travel is to plan in front. When it comes to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the truth of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our thoughts. Arranging and consuming our travel budget wisely is a main concern for most families. Minimizing consuming and prices, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed achievement and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning regarding saving money while travelling is simple: Even if your personal budget is incredibly tight, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, regardless of whether on a finances or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel charge!. Check your airline website before making your way to the airport.
The ash cloud may even affect world leaders, including President Obama, who plan on attending the funeral of Polish President Lech Kaczynski on Sunday.
