UPDATED: Plane crashes in Amsterdam, breaks on impact, 9 reported dead, most survive

A Turkish Airlines jet heading from Istanbul to Amsterdam has crashed at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.

Flight TK1951 was carrying about 134 passengers and crew members;early reporttotalsvaried.

Though the plane broke into three pieces when it crashed just short of the runway, itwasinitially reported that all on board the plane survived. Authorities are now listingnine dead from the crash and this number may rise. It is believed those killed were in the front section of the plane but that has not been confirmed yet.
