Regardless of your personal feelings, circumstances, or what political side of the fence you are on, health insurance is a major issue facing our nation today. Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! If not, you might face bills in the thousands if you need treatement for any serious illness or accident while you are on vacation.
For all the talk of health care in this country, there is no real plan to fund health care insurance for traveling. There might be a premium-plus option but don't count on it. For those with an American Express card, you might get coverage for health insurance and evacuation assistance (costs for coverage may vary based on your card, location, and other factors). At one time, those with American Express cards were reminded to "don't leave home without it." Now, that might be the question to ask regarding proper health insurance coverage for travels abroad.
