Winterfest weekend

Downtown Buffalo is the place to be this weekend. Winterfest Powder Keg kicks off events on Friday at 5:00pm with an Ice Breaker party. 103.3 The Edge and Labatt Blue Light are the sponsors for the party in a giant heated tent! From 5:00pm to 8:00pm enjoy live music by Eric Crittenden and Friends. The Quiz Master Dennis George will also be playing games and trivia. From 8:00pm to 11:00pm Suckerpunch will be performing live music. And at 8:00pm 103.3 The Edge will be having their Snowbunny Competition.

Saturday February 12ththe party starts at 10:00am and events are planned through 11:00pm. Sunday February 13thevents start at 10:00am and conclude at 8:00pm.

A snowman building competition is one of the featured events with several different prize categories. Pre-registration is required by February 11thso check the linked web site for more information. The registration form along with other details regarding this and other events like the Can Jam competition are listed there.

Snow tubes will be available for patrons who would like to go snow tubing down a skyway exit ramp, snow shoes are available for some wintertime walking fun or take a historical Buffalo tour. Cross country ski rentals, horse and carriage rides, igloo building and ice sculpting embrace wintertime festivities and traditions in the area.

To add to the already fun filled weekend there is also snow tennis, broom ball, Little Tike Scavenger hunt, and a snow sculpting contest. The Buffalo Auto Show will be at The Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, located at 153 Franklin Street. Pre-sale tickets for The Auto Show are available through Tops and Noco or the tickets can be purchased at the door.

The Labatt Blue Pond Hockey Tournament is also happening this weekend in downtown Buffalo. Erie Basin Marina is where the pond hockey players will gather and compete in a three day competition. 124 teams will be playing. "The key to budget travel is to prepare in front.
