Some say you have to travel to New York, Los Angeles, or Nashville to participate in a rocking music scene. The truth is--there are tons of amazing local musicians right here in Provo, Utah. In fact, some great popular bands includingFictionist, The Anser, Neon Trees, and Ryan Innes are all locally bred musicians, who preform in Provo and Salt Lake often.
You may be wondering where you can go to see a great show if you live in Provo, and lucky for you, there are a lot of local concert series lined up for this year.
The first set of concerts you will not want to miss is the 2012 Rooftop Concert Series. The Rooftop concert series is a great place to bring a date, or friends, relax and listen to great music. Each month, the Rooftop Concert Series hosts a different band. The line up this year includes Ryan Innes, Peter Breinholt, The Moth & The Flame And Desert Noises, and the Lower Lights, to name a few . "The essential to budget travel is to prepare onward. The concerts are the first Friday of every summer month. They are always free and you can bring either a chair, or a blanket and enjoy the fresh air and music. These concerts are located in Provo Town Square on the Parking Terrace Rooftop.
If you are willing to drive a little bit further, Salt Lake City also has an amazing summer concert series. The Twilight Concert series is also a free concert that is always jam packed with people and crazy fun. They sell concessions and beer in the area, and the concerts draw a fun crowd with lots of energy. Since this is a wildly popular event, plan on getting there a little bit early, so you can get a good place on the stage. These concerts are on Thursday nights, July 5th through August 30th, a Pioneer Park. A couple fun tips for the concert. They will allow you to bring food in the park, but there are a couple great restaurants right across the street on the North side of the park. There is a great Belgian waffle restaurant and a great Thai restaurant that have more of a buy from the window kind of vibe, rather than a sit-down vibe. You can purchase food there and bring it into the park.
You don't have to travel far, or spend money, to enjoy great music. There are plenty of fun, free concert series to enjoy throughout the whole summer. Also, keep in mind that many musicians travel to Utah for individual concerts. For concerts in Provo, continue to check the line up at Muse Music, Velor, and the local universities.
