The countdown is on for the third season of PBS Masterpiece Theaters Downton Abbey. Only three more days until the highly anticipated January 6th season opener. For Downton Abbey fans living in Washington State and British Columbia, the recently re-opened Oak Bay Beach Hotel in Victoria is offering a special treat for fans. The hotel is hosting a reception and three-course, white-gloved dinner (just like one that Mrs. Hughes might plan with Mrs. Patmore) in the David Foster Foundation Theater, followed by the season-3 premier at 9:00 p.m. Guests will have a once in a lifetime experience to see how the Downton Abbey drama unfolds when Coras mother Martha Levinson (played by Shirley MacLaine) is the newest house guest.
The Oak Bay Beach Hotel is the type of place even Lady Violet would approve. "The key to budget travel is to approach in advance. For local fans, tickets to the reception and dinner may also be purchased for $75 Cdn per person.
Partial proceeds from the evenings events will go to support the local PBS station, KCTS 9. Members from KCTS 9 board and executive team will be there to join in the celebration and provide added insight to the phenomenal success of the miniseries.

The reception will begin in The Conservatory at 7:00 p.m. - with dinner service beginning at 7:30 p.m. This will allow for coffee and after dinner drinks to be served in Downton Abbey formality before the curtain rises at 9:00 p.m. Guests who dress for dinner and arrive in appropriate Downton Abbey attire will be entered to win door prizes in celebration of the special occasion. For those staying overnight, additional evenings may be added on for the weekend, with rates from $139 Cdn.
