Standing at the top of the sledding hill on a clear day in Orchard Park, New York provides a great view of the City of Buffalo skyline. There is more than just picturesque views at Chestnut Ridge Park, though. Boasting the newly remodeled and only toboggan chutes in the area, visitors can take part in this nostalgic past time that has attracted many generations of snow lovers. If you dont have a toboggan, dont worry, sledding on the hill is another great winter feature at the park.
Chestnut Ridge is an Erie County Park located at 6121Chestnut Ridge Road in Orchard Park, New York. The park is approximately 1,213 acres and has fun outdoor activities for all seasons. The park was named after the abundant chestnut trees that were once in the area. Unfortunately, the chestnut trees were destroyed by disease and their wood was used to construct the Adirondack style pavilions that park patrons use today.
Admission to the park is free and has a disc golf course, trails, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, tubing and tobogganing in the winter. In warmer weather hiking, tennis courts and informal diamonds are added to the activities list. Photographers can find scenic shots throughout the park and the Orchard Park area all year long.
