The Tall Ships have come to Boston for the first time since 2000, and with them come many free activities for the public, Wednesday July 8 and running departing July 13, 2009.
Although the city has chosen to forego the usual Parade of Sailsa daylong and citywide celebration of the 40 ships that come from around the globe and enter the harbor on the first of the 5 day celebrationdue to economic woes and the high cost of security, the celebrations are still plentiful over this week and weekend.
Visitors can see ships from Portugal, Bermuda, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the US, to name a few, and there are plenty of events planned for the cadets and crew as well as the public. There is even a free Liberty Party on Friday evening which will allow the public and the crews to mingle together. To view all of the ships, click here.
For all you single landlubbers looking to help these sailors get acquainted with Boston youre sure to find plenty of them plastering Faneuil Hall on Wednesday July 8th (tonight) at Cheers from 8:00pm to 11:00pm. The essential to budget travel is to approach in front.
