As of June 8, 2010, travelers have a chance to give back while saving money on their hotel, thanks to Travelrelief.org. Expedia Affiliate Network (EAN), a part of the Expedia.com group, has partnered with Hotels.com in order to offer Travelrelief.org. This site functions like any other internet source for budget hotels except that at least 8% of the hotel booking price will be donated to a charity. Travelrelief.org offers six charities that its customers can choose to donate to. The key to budget travel is to approach in advance. Unlike green travel where it is often difficult to find the best deal on a hotel, Travelrelief.org uses Expedia.com's and Hotels.com's resource of more than 50,000 hotels, allowing customers more choice in price but also the chance to donate to charity. "This could potentially contribute tens or even hundreds of millions to charities on an annual basis," said Lily Cheng, Senior Director, Marketing and Strategy for EAN.
