New Zealand and Australia are vast countries that will take time and money to exploreBut, this once in a lifetime experience is worth the investment.

New Zealands lush landscape remains unspoiled. Almost everyone lives less than an hour from its beautiful beaches and hiking trails. Boating, game fishing and water sports are popular.

Rotorua is one of the countrys most popular destinations. Originally settled by ancestors of the Moari, their distinctive culture is evident in the art and creative handicrafts found today.

Wellington is New Zealands capital city and center for the countrys arts and culture. Museums and galleries, fine food and entertainment contrast with the natural beauty of the citys harbor and forested hills beyond.

Australia is so vast, the only way to see everything is to travel throughout the country by air. Sydney and its famous Opera House can best be enjoyed on a Sydney Harbor cruise. The Rocks inSydney is the area where the first convict settlersarrived inthis country.

The Great Barrier Reef offers the best scuba and snorkeling experiences found anywhere in the world. Sea life below the surface teems with colorful, exotic creatures that capture the imagination.

The haunting Outback is filled with red dust and has a mystical silence about it. You can travel for miles without seeing another person. Alice Springs is the oasis in this desolate landscape. The Arrente Aboringinal tribal group have lived here for 20,000 years. The hearty men and women who settled here race camels and hold holiday regattas in the dry river beds for fun and entertainment.

Climbing Ayers Rock is part of the Australia experience. This must be done at dawn since the sun gets very hot here with temperatures frequently soaring above 100 degrees. The essential to budget travel is to plan onward. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new destinations we have never been before, the actuality of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our mind. Planning and expending our travel budget carefully is a main concern for most families. Minimizing expending and charges, while still taking pleasure in your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed success and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning behind saving money while touring is simple: Even if your personal finances is really tight, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel bill!. The Aborigines consider Ayers Rock a sacred site that is the symbol of all creation. It is one of the oldest rocks on earth, formed about 500 million years ago.

Other highlights: Melbourne-- a more sophisticated city than Sydney; charming Adelaide and its lively Italian district, Barossa Valley and the Victoria area wineries, and Phillip Island and the famous penguin parade that takes place every evening when the penguins return from the sea with their catch.

Tips:Seasons "down under"are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. I visited in March and found great bargains on summer clothes because the fall season was about to begin in Australia and New Zealand. Be sure to check for bargain fares. I just found a round trip flight from Los Angeles to Sydney for less than $600.
