Cheap hotels for your Disney World Getaway

In light of my plans this weekend, I thought I would write about the best way to get the most (and the most savings) out of a hotel stay Disney World. How lucky are we to live only three-and-a-half short hours (well, short depending on who you are driving with) from the most magical place on earth? The good news is that although park ticket prices dont really change (although us Florida Residents do get some great deals), hotel prices do. And you can definitely make them work for your budget without compromising quality. Ive never stayed in a hotel in Orlando that I wasnt satisfied with or that cost me more than $50/night. Dont believe me? Give these suggestions a try:

Goodbye traveling gnome hello Kayak! Kayak.com is one of those wonderful internet gems that you cant believe you didnt know about before and cant imagine how you lived without it. It is a travel website that searches other search engines for the best deals on flights, hotels, car rentals, and vacation packages. It certainly takes the guesswork out of trying to remember each hotel search engine with a commercial starring William Shatner.

Organize hotels by price. Click on the tab above the results that says Price to organize your results from the lowest to the highest price. That way you know what you are working with and where to start.

Read the reviews. Sometimes this is more important than others. This is one of those times. Since you are trying to book the cheapest option, there is a good chance you will be looking at some pretty dingy places. And chances are the cheapest option wont always be the best, but maybe something $4 or $5 more expensive is a better bet. You will only find this out by reading the reviews. They will probably not describe the Ritz-Carlton, but there should be 80% or more positive reviews for a hotel to be a viable option. Take into consideration the complaints as well (no turndown service, not so bad; cockroaches, not so good) And look at when the review was published anything from over six months ago is likely to be inaccurate.

Double check with the hotels website. When you find the perfect hotel at the perfect price, check the hotels website to make sure its not cheaper there. Sometimes it will be, but sometimes it won't.

Dont be afraid of hotels that are further from the park. You have a car, silly! Dont be afraid to drive a little because the closer the hotel, the more likely they will hike up their prices. However, try to keep within 10 miles of the park. Tip: If you type DisneyWorld Orlando, FL in the Where bar your results will say how far, in miles, they are from the park.

As always, low-season is cheapest. Holiday weekends and most weekends in March-August are going to be the most expensive so keep that in mind. Take advantage that you are only a car-ride away and try to go on a weekend that is not so popular.
