Is bidding dead on Pricelinewith the negotiator killed and all?

Did you hear noise on the street that led you to think Priceline might be stopping auctions? Did you happen to see the latest Priceline ad that mentions they killed off their negotiator (William Shatners character)? Some got alarmed, and others are still confused to say the leastare you?

Well, dont be! Priceline still offers online auctions for travel: flights, hotels and car rentals.

The reason you are hearing that noise and possibly getting misinformed is because Priceline is trying to remind shoppers that they are more than just an auction site. They also offer everyday bargains, similar to Hotwire, Orbitz and Travelocitywhich seem to get all the attention for regular discount travel shopping.

Now, I think the message is not really clear. Priceline thought that their negotiator was such a strong character that they had to do something drastic. I think they went too farcome on! Killing the negotiator!? Couldnt they just find him some friends?

The negotiator and his picky discount friends could all have gone on the same vacation, but maybe at different times of the year? Or, maybe the bunch of friends would all meet at the destination, but the negotiator would have red eyes, while the other friends would already be at the swimming pool. However, the negotiator could afford getting a massage from his chair in the sun, while his discount friends would have to apply their suntan lotion, without any help!?
