'Feature Friday': Los Feliz Lodge, eco-friendly and affordable (Photos)

Welcome to the first "Feature Friday"! Created by yours truly (a.k.a. Alexandra Hunter), "Feature Friday will spotlight one awesome and affordable accommodation every Friday that fellow Angelenos are sure to love.

In honor of Earth Day, today's "Feature Friday" is all about the eco-friendly and budget-savvy Los Feliz Lodge in LA's Los Feliz neighborhood.

The Los Feliz Lodge is a collection of Spanish courtyard-style bungalows and villas that were originally built in the 1920's for the elite of Hollywood. Today, the bungalows and villas are available to the public to rent on a nightly, weekly, or monthly basis.

Each suite was designed by local interior designers to be eco-friendly and give guests the experience of hotel-style accommodations in a home-like setting. The bungalows, the detached, slightly smaller suites, offer amenities such as a living room, private bathroom, bedroom with queen size beds, and a fully-equipped kitchen. The villas are the larger suites and in addition to the bungalow amenities, the villas also have a dining room, washer and dryer, and king size beds.

Some additional suite amenities include:

• Flatscreen TV with cable and DVD
• Free US long distance telephone calls
• Access to patios and courtyards
• Robes and slippers

Best of all is the price! Amenities and all, the bungalows start at just $150 per night and $950 per week. The villas rent for $180 per night and $1200 per week.

The location is not half bad either. Los Feliz Lodge is located in a quaint neighborhood east of Hollywood, very near the famous Sunset Boulevard. Only a quick walk away are restaurants, bistros, shops, and movie theaters. "The key to budget travel is to approach in front.
