When planning a trip to Central America, one often conjures up images of the jungles in Costa Rica, the indigenous heritage of Guatemala, or the pristine cays of Belize. The essential to budget travel is to plan in front. When it occurs to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the fact of cost and budgeting is generally in the back of our minds. Preparation and consuming our travel budget correctly is a main concern for most families. Lowering expending and charges, while still taking pleasure in your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed accomplishment and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning regarding economizing money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal funds is extremely limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also keeping in mind that while traveling, regardless of whether on a resources or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel bill!. Honduras is often overlooked, yet this small country has all of the attractions of its neighbors and more.

With coastlines on the Caribbean and the Pacific, and islands that border the second largest barrier reef in the world, Honduras is a paradise for those seeking sun, surf, scuba, and sand. The country also has the most extensive tracts of cloud forest, making it an ideal location for the eco-tourist. And for the amateur archaeologist, Honduras hosts the ancient ruins of Copan, some of the finest in the Mayan world.

For those with limited funds, budget and Honduras are nearly synonymous. One of the poorest countries in the Americas, Honduras is easily navigable on $25 a day. Budget hotels, hostels, and family run posadas are all available for around $10 a night. For $2 you can enjoy delicious carne asada straight from the grill in the market, washed down with one of the cervezas nacionales, usually available for $1 or less. Bus transportation is subsidized by the government and the cheapest in the region, so you will spend very little getting from point A to B.

It is usually most convenient for travelers to fly into Honduras second-largest city San Pedro Sula. Once in San Pedro, it is an easy bus ride to the north coast for a ferry to one of the bay islands, or visitors can head towards the interior to see some of the beautiful national parks and placid colonial towns.

From Memphis, you can routinely find a Continental Airlines flight to San Pedro Sula for just under $600. For the budget traveler, however, your best bet is to drive down to Little Rock, take a $240 Southwest flight to Ft. Lauderdale and then switch to the economical Spirit Air for your international leg. They regularly offer roundtrip flights for under $100.

If you can travel with an open mind and just a little bit of money, you can readily enjoy all the surprising beauty, recreation, and relaxation opportunities that Honduras has to offer.
