Kids Travel Free on Amtrak to Strawberry Festival May 17th-19th

The California Strawberry Festival in Oxnard, California is celebrating its 30th Anniversary. To commemorate the event, kids can travel free on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner and the San Joaquin trains to Oxnard for the festival weekend of May 17th-May 19th. The California Strawberry Festival is providing a special festival shuttle from the train station to the event site at Strawberry Meadows of College Park.

The event features 250 Arts and Crafts booths, entertainment, and lots of Strawberry-themed fun, including food booths offering just about every way you can possibly think of to serve up a delectable strawberry.

If you've never experienced the Pacific Surfliner, you're in for a treat. Much of the route from San Diego hugs the coast - there is often nothing between your train window and the beach, and beachgoers often wave at the train as it zooms by on the tracks just a few feet away from the edge of their beach blankets. I've observed dolphins playing in the surf and even whales spouting offshore on some of my trips on the Pacific Surfliner.
