Looking for a parking space to rent by the month in Philadelphia? Bestparking.com might be your place to start your search. Not only do they offer daily/hourly solutions to downtown parking spot searches, the site does the same for monthly parking.
Navigate to Bestparking.com, select Philadelphia, click the Monthly button, and select the desired neighborhood. You will then see a map of the neighborhood and parking facilities will be displayed with their monthly rates.Below the map is a list of these same facilities arranged by price.
For our example we used the Philly's Chinatown neighborhood; it includes the area from City Hall to Independence Hall, plus a little more. There are 73 parking facilities shown on this map (the map can be dragged to include other areas).
Of these 73 facilities, 54 list their monthly parking rates. The remaining 19 are listed as "Not Posted" or simply "N/A."
Monthly parking rates on this particular map range from $131 to $454. It appears that the majority are about $200 - $225. If you are currently paying $225 and can find another facility in the area for $205, you will save $240 a year. That's like getting a month of free parking and enough left over for a few extra lattes at Starbucks for your walk to the office.
The site makes no mention as to space availability at a particular facility; but, does list contact information.

Renting a parking space on a monthly basis is a costly but, in many cases, a necessary expense. As crazy as it might sound initially, buying a deeded space for tens of thousands of dollars might actually make sense. The monthly 'mortgage' payment for a space in many cases is less than the rental payment. In Philadelphia, monthly rentals go from $131 to over $400 a month and in New Your and DC much higher than that. The issue is actually finding a space to buy.

Star Wars parking solutions
Finding a parking spot is about to step into the space age. It is understood that XM Satellite Radio Holdings, Inc. is working on a couple new products for your GPS. They already offer real-time traffic alerts, now they are working on weather and parking. Just like the traffic information, these new products will automatically display on your GPS screen. In email communications with XM, the company has denied these reports. However, other reports citing XM officials say it is in the works.
The sticking point is how to retrieve thelive parking data from each facility so available parking spaces will accurately be displayed. Reports state that a few different information retrieval systems are currently being tested. This system is not slated to show pricing information, but will show which garage has open spaces and how many.
