Located on the shores of Lake Champlain and north of Burlington, Colchester is a diverse town with many recreational areas to explore for no charge.

The Parks & Recreation Department features a dozen beautiful areas around the town and bordering Malletts Bay.
A few of this examiner's favorite areas are along the shore.
Rossetti Natural Area which is comprised of field, forest, swamp and Thayer Beach.

Mallard ducks, pollywogs, tadpoles, frogs and fiddleheads all make this their home in the spring.
The Causeway is a former railway bed connecting Burlington & Colchester to South Hero across the opening from Malletts Bay into Lake Champlain.
After the devastation of Hurricane Irene, Local Motion, the citizens of the community and biking enthusiasts restored the Causeway to even better condition.
It is suitable for walking, running, biking, fishing and duck hunting in season.
Bayside Park is a spot for family fun especially in the summer.
It offers swimming, picnic areas, tennis courts, bike path, playground, skate park and much more.
Across from the park and East Lakeshore Drive there is a sandwich shop that features ice cream and the local favorite, Creemees.
A food truck offering burgers, hot dogs, fries and beverages and a Subway franchise are all in the same business park.
Colchester Farmers Market will begin its second year on the lawn of Burnham Memorial Library beginning in June.
